First Grade School Supplies

I took my youngest son shopping for school supplies and it was definitely an experience.  I figured I would start a week early and beat the crowd - not so much.  And apparently those little pink erasers are in high demand because I had to go to three different stores to find them.  Who knew? These are Instagram photos, which I am really starting to like.  Love, love, LOVE the filter on this one.  The paper is one of DCWV's new stacks, the Edumacation stack that is exclusive to Michael's.  I love all of the different patterns and my absolute favorite ended up on the page - the alphabet writing on those primary school lines.  It makes me smile to know I have a first grader!  And of course that his school supply shopping is all done!

Celebrating Diwali!

Good Morning and Happy Sunday everyone!  I am happy to share a new scrapbook page with you today. This baby has been a work in progress. I started it in February, put it aside, and well, finished it sometime in June. That's how these pages seem to be going for me lately.  I want to give a big shout out to my friend Pam from The BugBytes who was so kind and generous in sharing her lights file with me. I am posting this page over on the BuyBytes blog today, so please stop over there and check out all of the amazing work from other designers. The picture is of my best friend Brandy's daughter all decked out for their most recent Diwali celebration.  She is truly a beautiful little girl.

Another Sympathy Card

I had to make another one.  Which bums me out.  I decided to make a set because I don't want to have to make one for a while.  The design is basic, a Silhouette sketched rose printed and then cut out.  The cards are monochromatic, other than the flower and ribbon.  I made four cards, but just changed up the embossing folder on each, otherwise they are identical.  I hope that I won't need anymore of these any time soon.

Any Occasion Cards

You know what I haven't done in a long time?  I haven't sat down to make a card with no real occassion in mind.  I haven't created anything just for the sake of creating, or playing with some new toy or paper, etc.  I did that tonight.  I picked up my very first pack of Paper Smooches stamps a week ago and I wanted to make a card so I could use them.  I don't have a great need for any of these cards right now, but it feels good to make something just for the sake of making something, ya know?  The design is inspired by a card created by Jackie from Rockwell Designs.  You guys know I love negative space.  I used that along with the Silhouette Sketch feature to create my focal point, a daisy bouquet that I found in the Silhouette store some time ago.  The frames are all Silhouette print and cut digital patterns.  They have had a lot of really cute designs in the store lately so this was my opportunity to play around with a few of them.  Okay, okay I will shut up - here are the cards:

Recipe:
Paper:  JoAnn's Kraft Paper, Epson Premium Presentation Matte Paper (AMAZING results with my Epson printer), Bazzill Smooth cardstock, Bazzill textured cardstock
Silhouette:  Patterns, flower (sketch) image - all print and cut

Hello Miss America!

In lieu of making my sister a birthday card, she and I created her very own birthday sash.  Why?  Because she waits tables and gets to wear it on her next shift (on her birthday).  It's about the tips people!  This was really fun to make.  I don't think I've ever used so many glue sticks on one project. The ribbon you see is actually running on both sides of the sash (it wasn't wide enough).  And the entire thing is actually adhered onto a long fabric strip because she's going to be working a double shift on her birthday and I wanted it to be durable and more comfortable than it would be if it was solely made out of paper.  I used some outdoor and indoor vinyl for the lettering - it will stick better to the sash and was much quicker to cut out.  The flowers are from my stash and the owls and leaves are from the Silhouette store.  I think she looks incredible and she is very happy with it.  Mission accomplished!

Fabulous Big Time Announcement!

Hello everyone and Happy Tuesday!  I have great news to share - I have been selected to be part of DCWV's very first Design Team!  I am thrilled and over the moon about this opportunity.  I've been using DCWV paper for a very long time so I figured it was the perfect fit.  I am so glad that Erin and the rest of the DCWV team agree!  I've been bursting wanting to let everyone know about this but I had to keep it under wraps until the announcement at CHA today.  Here is the video from DCWV's booth at CHA (amazing as always, right?) and at the end you will get a glimpse of the new Design Team.  This is going to be a fabulous year, I know it.

And on a special note, I want to thank some very special ladies who, without their support, I am not sure I would have had the courage to try out for this team.  Dawn, Diane, Elise, Kimberly, Kymberlee, Carole, Caroline, Allison, Michelle, Kate and Rebecca you guys are the best and thank you so much for every bit of support and encouragement.

Let's Fly Away Birthday Card

My best friend Brandy's twins are turning two soon.  I finished her daughter's card a while back but I'm getting her son's done just under the wire.  This is a shaped card that I created from a toy airplane shape in the Silhouette store.  It's been a while since I've made one of these and it was really fun.  These papers are gorgeous and that helped, they were really easy to work with.  I'm sorry about my photography.  I'm having a few issues with the settings on my camera, and well, shaped cards are hard to photograph well period, especially since I wanted to show you all the dimension on the card.  I did my best!  I hope you like it.

CAS-ual Fridays No. 61

This week's Cas-ual Friday challenge is create a card using paper strips.  I haven't done much with Washi tape, despite owning several rolls, so I decided to use those as my strips.  I used the Silhouette Studio's Print & Cut feature to cut out my little superhero girl (I have a thing for these type of images for some reason), and their intersect feature to cut out the top mat with the paper strips.  I think this is pretty cute and it can be used for a congratulations, or "you go" type of card.

Paper:  DCWV Cardstock, Epson Premium Matte Presentation paper, Her Name Was Lola Digital Paper (Libby Pritchett)
Washi Tape:  Recollections, Tim Holtz
